ECB Response to the Latest Government Announcement – Covid-19
With Prime Minister Boris Johnson recently announcing the early stages of prospective plans to reopen various part of society, you will – of course – be eager to understand any implications for us as a game.
With this in mind, the England & Wales Cricket Board have now provided clarity that recreational cricket remains suspended until further notice, and that this continues to include all forms of practice and training.
As our governing body, the ECB are seeking to take some time to consider the full implications of the recent government advice before making formal decisions or recommendations on behalf of cricket.
They are continuing to work closely with the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport and Sport England on providing further guidance regarding the use of cricket clubs, their facilities and their coaches.
All of this does unfortunately mean that the day to dust off the cricket bags and head to the nets has not yet arrived – even with members of your own household – and, realistically, it may not come for some time yet.
We will, however, contact you as swiftly and with as much information as we can, just as soon as we receive any further meaningful updates.
